Albania to launch 3.2 mln euro cruise port in Saranda by December

TIRANA (Albania), August 3 (SeeNews) – Albania will launch a new 440 million leks ($3.9 million/3.2 million euro) cruise port in the Ionian Sea resort town of Saranda by December, the country’s transport ministry said on Friday.

The construction of the port, which will be 180 metres long and nine metres deep, is financed by the government with a credit from the World Bank, the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

The project is part of the development plan of the south Albanian coast, which includes an upgrade of the local water supply system.
