ZAGREB (Croatia), July 2 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Monday it is considering providing a 10 million euro ($12.6 million) loan to Vodovod i Odvodnja, a municipal water and wastewater company providing services in the area of the Croatian city of Sibenik, to finance the rehabilitation and upgrade of wastewater infrastructure in the area.
The project, with overall costs seen up to 16.5 million euro, will increase the coverage of the sewage network in the Sibenik area and will enable the company to achieve compliance with the relevant EU directives, the EBRD said in a statement.
Vodovod i Odvodnja is owned by the city of Sibenik (63%) and surrounding municipalities (37%).
The loan proposal is pending board review on September 4.
Sibenik is located on Croatia's southwestern Adriatic coast.
