BUCHAREST (Romania), June 22 (SeeNews) - Romania's nuclear power plant Cernavoda shut down on Friday one of its two reactors due to a technical problem with a turbine, the plant's operator Nuclearelectrica said.
The reactor shut down automatically at 0443 GMT without impacting negatively the plant's staff, the general public or the environment, Nuclearelectrica said in a statement.
The reactor will be reconnected to the grid once the cause of the problem has been established and it has been fixed, it added.
The plant in Cernavoda operates two 700-megawatt reactors which cover around one fifth of Romania's electricity needs.
